The 55th English Drama Contest

On November 30th, teams from J2 and J3 put on a wonderful performance for the Junior High School and families.

The students worked really hard to memorize their lines and improve their pronunciation. They should all feel proud of how much they achieved – performing a play in a foreign language is incredibly challenging, especially in so few lessons.

To start the show, selected teams from each class of J2 performed “Sleeping Beauty”. They did a great job of conveying the drama, humour, sadness, and romance of the story.

It was a pleasure to work with the acting teams as well as the technical teams – lighting, sound, and stage. The technical Teams had to learn very quickly – they only had two or three chances to practise.

After a short break all students of J3 performed the play “Peter Pan”. This year the quality of every act was good. Mr. Kellum and Mr. Simmonds were especially impressed at how so many students read the script so carefully to understand small nuances. Some teams even found new things in the script and performed them in ways that really enhanced the story.
